Elanda Point to Kinaba Rangers Station Walk
Starting from Elanda Point on the shores of Lake Cootharaba, this scenic 6 km return walk follows a tranquil boardwalk and lakeside trail through the Cooloola Recreation Area to the Kinaba Information Centre. The floating ranger station offers a fascinating insight into the ecology and wildlife of the Noosa Everglades — one of only two everglade systems in the world. It’s a peaceful, flat walk perfect for spotting birdlife, enjoying a lakeside picnic, or dipping your toes in the calm waters before the return journey.
Noosa Country Trail from Kin Kin
For a taste of hinterland adventure, hit the Noosa Country Trail Network from the charming village of Kin Kin. This series of interconnected trails winds through rolling farmland, forests, and ridgelines that offer panoramic views across the Noosa Biosphere. The trails are open to walkers, cyclists, and horse riders, and range from gentle country strolls to full-day treks. After your adventure, reward yourself with a well-earned meal at the iconic Kin Kin General Store or a cold drink at the local pub.
Noosa National Park – Headland Section
The Headland Section of Noosa National Park is one of Australia’s most loved coastal walks, combining rainforest, rocky headlands, and sparkling ocean views. The trail from Noosa Heads to Hell’s Gates is a must-do, offering chances to spot koalas in the treetops, dolphins in the surf, and even migrating whales between June and October. Continue on to the Fairy Pools, a set of natural rock pools where you can cool off in crystal-clear water — just be mindful of tides and safety. It’s pure Noosa magic, and completely free.
Noosa Botanical Gardens
Set on the edge of Lake Macdonald near Cooroy, the Noosa Botanical Gardens are a peaceful escape filled with winding pathways, lush lawns, and an impressive collection of native and subtropical plants. Highlights include a Greek-style open-air amphitheatre, shaded picnic areas, and lakefront spots perfect for a quiet morning coffee. Birdwatchers will love the abundance of native species that frequent the gardens, and entry is free year-round — a calm contrast to Noosa’s bustling beaches.
Noosa Rivermouth
Where the Noosa River meets the sea, you’ll find one of the region’s most iconic natural settings — the Noosa Rivermouth. Popular with locals for sunrise swims, sunset picnics, and lazy afternoons on the sand, it’s a serene spot to paddle, fish, or simply watch the tides roll by. Accessible via Noosa Woods Park or by kayak, it’s a place where saltwater, stillness, and the easygoing Noosa lifestyle meet. Bring a towel, a snack, and stay for the sunset.
Mount Tinbeerwah Lookout
Just a short drive from Noosa Heads, Mount Tinbeerwah Lookout offers one of the most breathtaking 360-degree views on the Sunshine Coast. The 1 km return track is mostly paved and wheelchair accessible to the first lookout, making it an easy adventure for all ages. From the summit, you can see across the Noosa River, hinterland ranges, and out to the shimmering Coral Sea. It’s especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset — a quick walk with a truly unforgettable reward.
